Different Types of Fleas and How to tell if Your Pets are hosting them
Fleas are small parasites that survive on consuming blood of mammals and birds that they manage to attack. Fleas are small and flightless insects, with adults ranging about 3mm long. There is another type of flea which has affinity towards the chicken and are therefore referred to as chicken fleas. Their favorite spot on the chicken is near the head or face where they bury their head in the skin. At first it would appear like the chicken have black heads on their head or face but a closer look reveals that the chicken are infected with chicken fleas. Though sand fleas usually feed on organic matter and withering plants, they can also attach themselves on pets and feed on their blood. This makes pets the easiest way to bring such fleas to your house.

Just as the name suggests, sticktight fleas are quite hard to remove when they attach themselves onto the skin of the skin of the victim. Springtail is a type of flea that attacks animals only on conditions of dampness and skin infection since it thrives in damp areas. There are various signs that could inform you that your pet is infested by fleas. Combing your cat with a fine -toothed flea comb from head to tail once or twice a day can help to know if your cat is infested. Apart from letting know if your cat has fleas, combing would skim them off. some of the signs that could imply or cat is infested by fleas is scratching or chewing its skin or even being restless. You can protect your pets by giving them quality flea treatment products. Anemia can be one of the effects of fleas on the host since they can consume about 15times of their own body weight in blood.
